Marinara Sauce

28 oz. can Crushed Tomatoes (Tuttorosso brand)
28 oz. water
1 small onion, chopped fine
4 Tbsp. olive oil
2 cloves garlic, minced -
1 tsp. red pepper flakes
2 Tbsp. tomato paste
1 tsp dried basil
1 tsp dried oregano
1 tsp. dried parsley (or 1 Tbsp. fresh, minced)

1 tsp. Better Than Bouillion
2 tsp. salt
½ cup dry red wine

1 tsp instant coffee
Rind of Parmesan or Pecorino cheese


1. To heated heavy pot, add olive oil, onion – cook for 5 minutes till translucent
2. Add garlic and stir in tomato paste
3. Add dried herbs and red pepper flakes – cook 1-2 minutes over medium heat
4. Add crushed tomatoes, water, instant coffee, bouillon, red wine, and cheese rind.
5. Bring to a boil then simmer over low heat for 45-60 minutes – stirring occasionally
6. NOTE: Do not cover pot – else creates too much liquid
